Change your Body – Change your Swing: TPI Fitness Coach, Charlotte, NC

/

Hey Charlotte golfers. I want you to take a minute to reflect on last season. Did it go as well as you wanted it to? What were your frustrations? What do you need to improve upon?

The 2025 season will be here before you know it AND if you want to play better this year than you did last you, you’ll need to do things you didn’t do last year.

Every golfer wants more distance and accuracy. The problem is you lack the flexibility, mobility, and pelvic control you need to get those things.

Move your body better.

“The reason most amateur golfers struggle with their swing is because their bodies physically can’t move the way you’re supposed to-to hit a golf ball. They will see some extreme gains just from moving their body better.”_Scottie Sheffler

How do we get started helping you move your body in the right way?

First, we improve the body’s capacity by improving the flexibility and elasticity of your body’s muscles and fascia (the stuff that surrounds your muscles and connects one part of your body to another). That allows for more movement around the joints we need to move.

The second step is to learn to mobilize your joints. Mobility is the ability to move a joint or segment through its full range of motion in a variety of positions, under different loads, and at different speeds. The joints or segments of the body that we are going to target those joints in this 6-week class are the; ankles, hips, thoracic spine, shoulder, and cervical spine.

If you can’t move through those segments the body will find another segment to use, and that’s how injuries happen.

“Having worked with professional and amateur golfers for over 20 years, the number one difference I see between the amateur and the professional is their mobility or their range of motion. The professional has the ability to have a bigger hip turn, a big shoulder turn and deliver that to the ball with speed.”__ Ben Shear, PGA Tour Trainer

Next, we will learn how to coordinate that mobility into the movement patterns you need to play golf better.

And finally, we are going to work on pelvic control.

The force you put into the ground travels back up through the legs and into the pelvis (which acts like the transmission of a car). If it’s working correctly, it will transfer that energy up into the trunk, lead arm, club, and ball. If your pelvis cannot move correctly, those forces will be lost, requiring you to use your upper body to dominate the swing. The better you can control your pelvis, the better your swing path will be.

“The fastest way to get distance is not adding strength, speed, or explosive power. The fastest way to get distance in the game of golf is to find the center of the face. “_Lance Gill, Director of Lance Gill Performance and TPI Instructor

6 Week Intensive

6 – Week Course Objectives

  1. Get your body moving the way it needs to – to play golf the way you want to so you can play in every tournament you want to play in injury-free.
  2. Help to get your body into the positions your swing coach wants to see you in.

Brett’s Bottom Line:

In golf, your physicality matters. Your body is integral to your success or failure on the golf course. To get better at golf, you must get your body moving better.

At the end of the day, I’m here to help you feel better and move better and to support your golf coach. I want to make your coaches’ job easier by giving them a more efficient athlete to work with on the lesson tee.

If you show up with the full capacity to move the way your golf pro wants you to move, you can use their expertise to become a better golfer because you now possess the foundation of movement to do so.

“If you want to go someplace you’ve never gone, you’ll have to do something you’ve never done.” See you in class. Brett
