I just accidentally found this press release dated back to 2015. Yes, I’ve been helping people reach their fitness potential for a long time.
In 2014 I was certified as a Functional Aging Fitness Specialist by the Functional Aging Institute

In 2016 I was also certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) for short, as a Senior Fitness Specialist.

Now I’m not going to tell you when you decide to believe you’re a senior. If you were on the PGA tour that would mean anyone over 50. I can tell you that when I turned 50 I did not think of myself as a senior!

The US Government considers you a senior at age 62. I’m almost 2 birthdays past that and I’m not gonna call myself a senior. When I turn 80, that’s when I’ll give it. Hey, that’s just me…
Here’s the Press Release

Brett’s most recent focus is the launch of his “Fitness Over 50” program. A unique fitness program tailored to the unique needs of clients over age 50.
What is “Fitness Over 50”?
This program is an effort to address the fitness needs of the 77 million plus baby boomers and seniors at all fitness levels through the use of testing and customized workout program design.
The “Fitness Over 50” program includes; physical assessments, individualized exercise programs, as well as nutrition and lifestyle coaching created for individuals in this age group.
Why Did You Create This Program?
“When I examined the options in the fitness industry for clients over 50, it was clear that most of them are designed for the 20 and 30-something crowd,” says Cohen. “These programs are simply not appropriate for everyone over 50. There was no appropriate testing and zero modifications to meet the highly specific needs of this population. This program provides that solution.”
Why Focus On The 50+ Population?

Well, there are several reasons. First, I just turned 54 myself, and even though I’m very fit I can appreciate what happens in an aging body so I can empathize with this population and the physical challenges they face as they get older.

Secondly, boomers and seniors have different needs than what the traditional fitness industry focuses on. Fitness trends tend to target a much younger audience. For the most part, boomers and seniors aren’t looking to get “Big Guns” or “Six Pack Abs”. They simply want to feel better and move better. They want to maintain functional capacity over the course of their lives as well as maintain independence and prevent disability.

“This is why I committed to training clients over 50”, says Cohen. “Treating you the same as some ‘twenty-something’ is simply criminal!” You need a program that allows you to do more of the things you NEED to do, LIKE to do, and WANT to do, easier, better, and with less discomfort. This program provides that solution.”
