Attention SouthPark Golfers – Golf Fitness Charlotte

Hey SouthPark Golfers,

Have you heard? There's a private social club for golfers scheduled to open up here soon. 

According to an article in Axios Charlotte, the luxury golf club is schedule to open Spring 2023 (which it is now). 

The luxury club will be about 13,000 square feet and include a large covered patio and outdoor putting green.

Amenities include golf simulators with TrackMan, golf lesson, rentals and golf related events (including tournaments and leagues).


“Intown Golf Club offers a convenient and weather-proof setting where you can play 18 holes in 45 minutes, day or night, rain or shine,” a representative from the club told Axios. 

What It Doesn't Have.....

Sounds like the Intown Golf Club will have everything a golfer needs, or will it? Well, having been certified as a Titleist Performance Institute Professional since 2010 and worked at one of the premier Golf Fitness Facilities in the country (Drive 495), what it doesn't have is what I would consider the most important aspect of helping golfers play golf better, and that is a fitness program specifically designed to help golfers just like you get the most out of their bodies and the most out of their game.

The Big Lie



The golf industry has been trying to convince you, the golfer, that the way to better golf is by buying the newest shiny object.  And while equipment having properly fitted clubs and good equipment is certainly going to be part of your success on the course, far too much of your hard earned money is going into upgrading your clubs and not your body.

If you want to be a better golfer in 2023 and beyond then it’s you, the golfer that needed to be updated.

I’m not going to sell you a quick fix, because there is no quick fix. The reality is that changing your body and then creating a new swing using your new physical capabilities will take time. It requires a commitment to exercise, lessons and practice. But the alternative is to continue to complain about how your body feels and how you're not hitting the ball as far as you used to.

Longer Drives, Lower Scores and Fewer Injuries are mostly dependent on your physical abilities. You are the most important piece of equipment you own. Not the newest driver that just came out. 


I was taught this concept a long time ago while taking the CHEK Golf Performance Certication program over 20 years ago. If you gave Wayne Gretzky (the great one) a broom stick, he's still going to score a goal on you!

Where the ball goes is more of a by-product of what you body can and cannot do. Those of us trained by TPI call this the Body-Swing connection. We screen the body and correlate those findings with your current complaints, whether they are swing complaints or body complaints. They we attack the white elephant in the room and eliminate the physical restrictions that are preventing you from playing your best golf.
