Best Valentine’s Day Gift For Him, 2024-Fit For Golf, Charlotte, NC

Unlike the ladies who are reading this post, we men don’t want flowers, chocolates, or even a new sweater for Valentine’s Day! If your man is a golfer, he wants something that will help him play golf better!

And by that, I don’t mean he needs a new driver or a box of Titleist golf balls. He’s got those already! He needs a body that will move better so he can play better.

If the man in your life wants to play better, he’s going to need to move better! At the end of the day, that’s what separates extraordinary golfers from ordinary golfers. And your man does not want to be ordinary!

What About More Golf Lessons?

Golf is a skill and an athletic endeavor. If you want to be an extraordinary golfer, you need a golf coach who can guide you to the best of your abilities. But it also requires a fitness coach who can help you become the best athlete you can be.

“A Golf Pro is basically telling you what they think this is the best way to express your physiology to move the ball. But if you physically can’t do it  —- you’re going to spend thousands of hours with someone who has become a master at addressing your movement compensations

BUT, If you show up with the full capacity to move the way a golf pro wants you to move —- you can use their expertise to become a better golfer because now you possess the movement foundation to do so.  (That’s the central difference between a golf pro and a golf fitness professional.”

__Kelly Starrett, author of The Supple Leopard

“Like so many others, I took regular golf lessons but resisted the notion that I was out of shape. I now understand what I believe to be true for virtually every golfer over 50, namely that we are physically unable to produce the swing that our pros are teaching us.” ___Mark Cusick

Looking for a great golf coach? Contact my trusted partner and TPI Certified Golf Coach, Chris Bunge. Chris works at Intown Golf, right here in SouthPark and he understands the golf swing and the body-swing connection.

Having a body that moves well doesn’t guarantee you’ll be a good golfer. Getting great coaching doesn’t guarantee you’ll be a good golfer. Putting together a team, well now we’re talking success.

“I’ve realized how important it is for me for my body to be ready come tournament weeks. Being on top of how my body feels and my strength and flexibility levels is something I can help control in the gym.” __Sahith Theegala

Moving Better

To move better for golf, we first need to see how you move. As a TPI-trained professional, I do that by using a screening process that helps us to see what’s working and what’s not working and how that is affecting their swing.

Along with other pieces of information, I can get a picture of what that athlete’s abilities and limitations are as it relates to the requirements of a biomechanically correct golf swing.

Then I correlate their movement limitations to current injuries/complaints as well as known swing faults or swing fault possibilities.

To get someone moving better, they always need improved flexibility and mobility. I describe what that means in a 3-part article series I recently wrote called: Do You Feel Stiff? The first step to not feeling stiff is going to be improving the health of your fascia – the medium of movement.
