Was last season disappointing for you? Did you struggle with consistency off the tee? Recovering between rounds? Accumulate any injuries in your back or maybe your elbow?

It’s not your driver’s fault.
Last year, around this time, I wrote an article called “The Season Favors The Prepared.” This is a direct quote from one of the golf fitness industry’s most well-known trainers, Kolby “K-Wayne” Tullier.
K-Wayne has been a golf fitness coach for top PGA and LPGA players like Lexi Thompson, Dustin Johnson, and Justin Thomas.
Like all golf performance coaches, our job is to help optimize our athletes’ bodies so they can improve their overall physical prowess, become more injury-resistant, and gain the physical wherewithal to withstand the stresses of golf at the highest level.
What About You?

The average amateur golfer’s needs are very different from those of most touring professionals (at least in the early stages of training). If you’ve noticed your drives getting shorter or your swing feeling a little tighter this season, you’re not imagining it… and you’re definitely not alone. For golfers over 50, loss of mobility is one of the biggest (and most overlooked) reasons distance, rotation, and consistency start to drop off.
Whenever I receive an inquiry from a local amateur, regardless of their handicap or skill level, the things they are struggling with are practically the same. They tell me things like:
- “I need more flexibility and core strength for golf.”
- “I’m looking to get an assessment and fitness plan to improve my golf swing motion and efficiency.”
- “I feel like a lack of flexibility is keeping me from lowering my handicap.”

And they are correct. So that’s where we begin.
Off-Season Golf Assessment – Know Your Needs

I, or anyone else for that matter, cannot help you until we know what you need help with. To determine what you need help with, we need to do a physical screen or assessment.

The TPI Level 1 Screen tells us what you’re physically capable of in relation to what is desired of a mechanically correct golf swing.
In other words, is your swing the way it is because of how your body is moving, or is it a technical issue that can be corrected with lessons, or both?
The off-season is the perfect time to figure out how your body moves and if it’s having a negative impact on your game. This is what we call The Body-Swing Connection. It helps identify what’s holding back your swing and you from getting better.
Game Plan

Your training should match what your body needs. Before you start training, you need to have a game plan, and in order to have a plan, you need to know your needs.
The next 5 months are the perfect time to work on the physical qualities YOU need to, so you can swing with more freedom, be a more consistent ball striker, and recover faster between rounds.
Brett’s Bottom Line:

Face it – we could all be more mobile. Whether you feel stiff and tight due to a sedentary lifestyle or you avoid flexibility & mobility training, my introductory 12-week training program is a no-brainer. It starts with a 16-point assessment to identify your specific limitations, and together we build the optimal program to fix them.
If you want more distance, more consistency, and fewer injuries, this is where it all starts.
After the assessment, you’ll walk away with:
- A clear understanding of what’ holding your swing back, as well as my philosophy and strategies on how to fix them.
