Just in case you don’t know where that quote comes from, it’s Seinfeld, Season 7, Episode 12-Stan The Caddy. Who doesn’t love Stan the Caddy?
Hey, I know you Charlotteans aren’t used to real winters like I was in New York, but you wouldn’t know it from this weekend’s forecast. I’m about to see my first ‘real’ snow accumulation in 4 winters of living in Charlotte.

Don’t Waste Winter.
“The season favors the prepared.”__Kolbe Tullier
Even without snow, it’s still winter, and winter is when nature is preparing for spring, and so should you. The gods of spring are definitely not out today.

Sure, you can spend winter just chilin’ on the couch, scrolling through Instagram, watching golf fitness porn, like this guy.

You could put on a vest and hat like this guy and go to the club or driving range, drilling in the same old bad movement habits you had last year.

How’s that working out for you?

Or maybe you are playing your favorite course in one of those fancy indoor golf simulator spots, fantasizing about being a PGA tour pro.
Most Golfers Waste Winter

While practice is definitely an essential part of improving your golf game, it comes second to improving YOU, the golfer—the person who actually swings the club.

Your Game Starts Here

Your Game Starts Here is a statement made by the Titleist Performance Institute. For those golfers who are not familiar with the Titleist Performance Institute, TPI for short, TPI is the world’s leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing.

Since its inception in 2003, TPI has studied thousands of golfers ranging from the top professional Tour players to weekend enthusiasts.
An incredible amount of data on players of all shapes, sizes, ages, and fitness levels has been gathered during this time. Using this data, TPI discovered how a properly functioning body allows a player to swing a golf club in the most efficient way possible.

Additionally, TPI has analyzed how physical limitations in a player’s body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury.

The Body-Swing Connection
As a TPI Certified Level 1 practitioner, you are first introduced to this concept, but it takes years of practice to master it. The basic premise is this. We perform a physical evaluation and can accurately predict how your movement capacity can affect your golf swing, and/or affect your body in the long term.
Is your golf swing the way it is because of how your body is moving, or are you struggling with something in your body because of the way your body is moving?
In this short video below, TPI Co-founders, Dr. Greg Rose and Dave Phillips, explain the why behind the physical screen.
When I first took Level 1 way back in 2010, we spent two days learning live. In-person learning. Remember those days?

It was so challenging to digest that I went back to take Level 1 – 4 more times over the next few years, and have watched Level 1 reviews online approximately 20 times since 2020.

Learn to evaluate golfers’ physical limitations with TPI Level 1 Certification, a comprehensive program designed for golf, fitness, and medical professionals. Students learn to quickly evaluate a player’s physical capabilities using the TPI Level 1 screen and to understand how the results of that assessment are correlated with the technical elements in the player’s swing.

This helps a coach, trainer, or medical therapist to quickly identify the key area that can be holding a golfer back from playing their best golf.
Brett’s Bottom Line:

If a player has physical limitations (and you all do), they have two options:
1) You can seek out a Golf Professional who can help you build a swing that works around their limitations.
OR
2) Work with a golf fitness professional like myself and, if necessary, a medical professional, who can help you improve upon those physical limitations.
I like to say it like this:
“I help golfers, just like you, improve how they move by helping them eliminate the physical restrictions that are preventing them from playing their best golf, and that always leads to Longer Drives, Lower Scores, and Fewer Injuries.”
