Every golfer has heard of Titleist. It is the most trusted ball in golf and has been for a long time.

The Titleist Script Logo is one of the most recognizable logos in all of golf and is seen on their golf balls, clubs, and most of their consumer gear, which is very recognizable to most golfers.

But do you know anything about the Titleist Performance Institute Swingman Logo?

The Swingman Logo (officially known as the TPI Swingman) is a stylized, abstract silhouette of a golfer, mid-swing, enclosed inside a hexagon. It is the official emblem for the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), Titleist’s elite golf health, fitness, and swing mechanics research wing.

Interestingly, I have found that many of the golfers I have encountered since moving to Charlotte 4 years ago DO NOT know what the TPI acronym stands for, nor do they know what the institute is and does. : (
If you’d like to hear the story of how the Titleist Performance Institute came to be, watch this interview with one of its founders, Dr. Greg Rose.
My Relationship with the Institute

I met Dr. Greg Rose 16 years ago this month at a Perform Better Summit in Providence, RI.

He taught a class on golf-related injuries. After the class, I walked up to him and asked him when the next Level 1 certification class would be, and he told me August in Chicago.

That was a time when you HAD to sit in a freezing hotel conference room for 2 full days just to hear the content, before you got your manual, studied, and took your test online to be “TPI Certified“.

After Level 1, I was hooked and have been studying with the institute ever since. I’ve gone to audit that class in person 5 additional times, traveling to Philadelphia and Newark, New Jersey, to sit in on that course over and over again.

I attended the World Golf Fitness Summit in 2016 (New Orleans), and in 2018 and 2024 (both in Orlando, FL).

Sandwiched in between all of those summits, I made a trip in 2017 to the headquarters in Oceanside, CA, to complete my Fitness Level 3 Certification.

I now hold the following certifications from the institute:
